Foster Care Pre-service Training Offered to
New Youth Alternatives Ingraham Foster Parents
SOUTH PORTLAND — Youth Alternatives Ingraham invites Maine residents to attend an upcoming Foster Parent pre-service training series (Foster Parenting 101), beginning Saturday, September 19th from 9am to 4pm, at the Casey Family Services Center in Portland. This is an opportunity for prospective foster parents to prepare themselves for the process of becoming a foster parent with Youth Alternatives Ingraham and receive professional foster training by experienced foster care staff, all free of charge.
Meals will be served at all training sessions and all necessary materials provided, as guests take a comprehensive and in-depth look at foster parenting in Maine and learn how to be the best possible foster parent they can be.
Dates and times for the training series are as follows:
- Saturday, 9/19: 9-4pm
- Tuesday, 9/22: 5:30-9pm
- Thursday, 9/24: 5:30-9pm
- Tuesday, 10/29: 5:30-9pm
- Thursday, 10/1: 5:30-9pm
- Saturday, 10/3: 9-4pm
For those just starting out and interested in meeting the foster care team to learn more about our foster programs, the Youth Alternatives Ingraham Foster Care team will host an upcoming open house and information session at the family center on June 4th. Topics will include information on the differences between Treatment Foster Care and Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care, the foster parent qualification process, training opportunities, and experiences of past Youth Alternatives Ingraham clients.
