Residential Programs

Mental Health Residential Facilities for Youth and Young Adults

In keeping with our goal of creating opportunities and transforming the lives of Maine's children and families, we create homes through our residential treatment programs and support communities through our family-focused services.

  • Young Parent Program Transitional Housing Transitional housing is open to people ages 22 and under who are currently homeless.
  • Edgewood A 6 bed, co-ed facility providing comprehensive integrated mental health and substance abuse treatment services to youth ages 16-21.
  • MaineStay 12-bed transitional living program for homeless young adults, ages 18-25 with serious emotional disorders or mental illness.

Foster Care Programs

In addition to our residences, we also offer safe havens to vulnerable youth in our Treatment Foster Care homes.

  • Treatment Foster Care — foster family placement that creates safe, loving homes for children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect.
  • Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care — a brief yet effective 6 to 12 month placement for teens looking to get their lives back on track; learning social/emotional skills and effective problem solving.

Adult Residential Programs

Youth Alternatives Ingraham operates six residential programs located in Portland, South Portland and Scarborough. The focus of these programs is mental illness, substance abuse problems and ending homelessness.

  • The Bridge — A 12-bed emergency residence for homeless adults with a major mental illness, providing a safe, supportive environment, comprehensive treatment and connection to community resources.
  • Gordon Green — An eight-bed permanent residence providing intensive treatment and support for elderly adults under guardianship with a combination of challenges including mental illness and disabilities related to age or physical impairments.
  • Helen Winslow Ray House — A seven-bed comprehensive rehabilitation residence providing support, counseling and advocacy for adults with a major mental illness.
  • Morrison Place at Randall Street — A 12-bed treatment facility offering intensive individualized treatment of homeless adults with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues.
  • State Street House - Provides 24-hour support for homeless men with co-occurring disorders in early recovery to remain sober and engaged in treatment.
  • Heath House - A comprehensive service providing 24-hour care and supervision to people with a developmental disability that results in a significant functional limitation in major life activities.  The program provides residential care including health and medical care, behavioral support, personal care, recreation, psychological services and community integration.
