Heritage House

Heritage House in South Portland is a 10 bed program serving girls, ages 13-18 who are in need of intensive mental health treatment in a residential setting. The program is designed to treat mental health and substance abuse issues through a holistic approach. This includes intensive family treatment, as well as integrating family and other natural supports throughout treatment. The program also places a strong emphasis on community service and restorative justice where applicable.

 

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Treatment and High Fidelity Wraparound (both have evidenced based outcomes).
  • Intensive family reunification services and aftercare services provided to fully support the youth’s transition home.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Resiliency model incorporated throughout programming and treatment.
  • Positive youth development philosophy embraced
  • Gender Responsive Environment: Reflects an understanding of the realities of women’s and girl’s lives and is responsive to their needs and strengths.
  • Individualized Treatment and Discharge Plan: All staff are facilitators of the child’s treatment plan. Clients work with staff to develop a comprehensive discharge plan keeping them connected to people and services if needed.
  • Staff are trained in cognitive behavioral strategies specific to reducing criminongenic risk factors, motivational interviewing, drug testing, MANDT, Red Cross CPR and First Aid, medication administration and the Resiliency Model.
  • Clients have access to substance abuse treatment.
  • Eligible youth are referred through the ITRT process.

  • Full-time LCSW Program Director
  • Full-time LCSW Clinical Coordinator
  • Seven full-time Residential technicians
  • Four awake overnight staff
